Dentate glenoid (glenoid hypoplasia)

Diagnosis almost certain

Standard X-ray of the left shoulder shows: 

  • hypoplasia of the inferior glenoid
  • notched appearance of the glenoid articular surface
  • scapular neck hypoplasia
  • widening of the inferior glenohumeral joint space

Mildly excessive intracapsular fluid. The rest of the findings as described for the X-ray.

Case Discussion

 Findings are consistent with a dentate glenoid.
