Patient Data

An anomalous vein is seen arising from the left frontal cortex and directed medially to drain into the velar vein and then to great cerebral vein. The vein is best visualized by SWI sequence.

Diagnosis: venous angioma

Case Discussion

Due to the slow flow within the anomalous vein, it displays bright signal in T2 and FLAIR images and displays contrast enhancement in post contrast study. As SWI is not affected by low velocity flow, it displays the venous angioma as hypointense structure and best depict its course.
