Duodenal carcinoma

Presentation

Epigastric discomfort and persistent vomiting.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

Axial CT sections reveal irregular circumferential mass involving the second and third parts of the duodenum. The proximal edge of the mass is seen to cause shouldering and upward projection. Fat plane between the mass and lateral aspect of head of pancreas is obliterated.

Case Discussion

35 year old female presented with epigastric discomfort and persistent vomiting and contrast-enhanced CT with positive oral contrast demonstrated a duodenal mass. Endoscopic biopsy demonstrated evidence of adenocarcinoma, Whipple surgery was performed, reconfirming duodenal adenocarcinoma as the diagnosis.
