Duplicated middle cerebral artery

Case contributed by Maxime St-Amant
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

CTA demonstrates two parallel arteries arising from the terminal right ICA. The anteriormost artery has a slightly smaller caliber.

DSA again demonstrates two parallel arteries originating from the terminal right ICA.

Case Discussion

The findings are in keeping with a duplicated right MCA rather than an accessory right MCA since the artery originates directly from the ICA and not from the ACA.
