Emphysematous pyelonephritis

Presentation

Complaining of abdominal pain and fever. Case of diabetes mellitus.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

The left kidney is enlarged with poor corticomedullary differentiation. There are linear air shadows in the left renal lower parenchyma and in the perinephric region. There is no renal calculus or hydronephrosis.

The right kidney shows normal echopattern without calculus or hydronephrosis.

Urinary bladder shows mobile debris. There is no calculus or wall thickening.
