Enlarged fluid (CSF) filled pituitary fossa.
The stalk (arrow) is present and the atrophic gland plastered up against the posterior wall; typical of this condition.
Case Discussion
In general patients are not hypopituitary. The diaphragma sellae is deficient allowing CSF to enter the sella however not enough to allow the chiasm or hypothalamus to prolapse. CSF pulsation enlarges the sella.
