Epidermal cyst overlying the sacrum

Presentation

Lump over sacrum.

Patient Data

Age: Middle aged
Gender: Male

Lumbar spine

mri

MRI demonstrates an oval sharply circumscribed mass in the subcutaneous tissues overlying the lower sacrum (S4 - S5). It has intermediate to low T1 signal, high signal on T2 and demonstrates no contrast enhancement. There is no evidence of spinal dysraphism. 

Case Discussion

Features are consistent with an un-ruptured epidermal cysts (aka sebaceous cyst).
