Presentation

Left sided abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

There is a 3cm focus of peripherally enhancing fat adjacent to the descending colon, typical of epiploic appendagitis. No free fluid or free gas.

Case Discussion

Epiploic appendagitis has a characteristic appearance on CT and needs to be sought in patients with acute abdominal pain, as it may mimic other more common causes, such as appendicitis.
