Bilateral rather symmetrical calcifications of the caudate nuclei, the putamina, the globus pallidus, posterolateral thalamic as well the cerebellar dentate nuclei, centrum semiovale and subcortical white matter.
Case Discussion
Fahr disease (idioathic familial ferrocalcinosis or progressive idiopathic bilateral striato-pallido-dentate calcinosis or familial idiopathic basal ganglia calcifications) with the typical radiological manifestations in the right clinical setting. The differential diagnosis of biltaral basal ganglia calcification is idiopathic, inherited, toxic, metabolic or post-infectious.
