Fatty replacement of the pancreas

As with fatty replacement of the liver there can be fatty replacement of pancreas, i.e. fat in the pancreatic acinar cells.
Case Discussion
On the "opposed" sequence the fat and water H atoms within those cells will be precessing out of phase (with a short Te of around 2.5 msec) thus signal will be reduced compared with the longer Te of say 5 msec where the H atoms are in sync and the signal intensity additive.
