Presentation
Known case of peripheral vascular occlusive disease.
Patient Data
Diffuse calcification of all the lower limb arterial tree. Spectral broadening with biphasic pattern in the common femoral artery. Complete occlusion of the proximal 2/3 of superficial femoral artery.
Distal third reformed weakly by deep femoral artery collaterals.
Monophasic low velocity flow seen in the popliteal and all infrapopliteal vessels.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates a long segment thrombotic occlusion of the proximal 2/3 of the superficial femoral artery. Deep femoral arterial collaterals always tend to reform at the terminal third of femoral artery. The alteration in pattern to monophasic flow confirms a significant proximal occlusion.
