Flitting pneumonia

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

This non-smoker has been presenting and re-presenting to respiratory clinics with non-productive cough for several months.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Serial CXR 2-4 mth apart

x-ray

Over the months, the apperances are that of migrating/("flitting") infiltrates. Prior sympathectomy for Raynaud disease noted.

A prior CT chest (not available for review) did not show any mass lesion, and no structurally abnormal lung.

Case Discussion

This patient was managed in respiratory outpatients for cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP), and is on intermittent steroids.
