Incidental finding on CT.  In the posterior mediastinum, to the left of the esophagus and below the level of the carina is a low attenuation (20 HU), non-enhancing mass which abuts and displaces the esophagus to the right side. Appearance and location are suggestive of foregut duplication cyst.

Subsequent MRI of the chest demonstrates a well-defined posterior mediastinal mass intimately related to the esophagus. There is T1 and T2 hyperintensity and no enhancement.

Appearances are in keeping with a foregut duplication cyst.
