H/o thorn injury to achilles region 9 days back. C/o local pain. Ultrasound to look for foreign body.

A linear echogenic focus ( 5 mm ) is noted abutting posterior surface of distal achilles tendon. It is surrounded by thin hypo - anechoiec cleft. Focal area of loss of fibrillar pattern is noted in adjacent distal tendon. Achilles tendon - intact. Retrocalcaneal fluid is noted.
Hyper vascularity is noted in achilles paratenon, focal hypoechoic area of distal achilles tendon and retrocalcaneal fat pad.
