Presentation
Left calf localized pain for the last one day. No pedal edema. No trauma. COVID-19 positive 2 weeks back.
Patient Data
At the site of the pain pointed by the patient, one of the paired veins of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle shows echogenic, distended, non-compressible lumen without color flow favoring acute thrombosis. There is no thrombus extension to the popliteal vein.
There is the resolution of the venous thrombosis resulting in a compressible vein. The affected vein shows mild wall thickening.
Case Discussion
After two weeks of COVID-19 infection, the patient developed acute left calf pain. The ultrasound shows isolated acute venous thrombosis of the gastrocnemius medial head without thrombus extension to the popliteal vein.
