Glomus tumor

Presentation

Painful swelling of the distal 4th digit of the left hand.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

The frontal radiograph and enlarged image show a subtle soft tissue density with scalloping of the lateral aspect of the distal phalanx of the left 4th finger.

A well-circumscribed nodule is noted at the lateral aspect of the distal phalanx of the 4th finger. It shows a low signal on T1WI, high signal on T2 fat sat with intense and relatively homogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences. The scalloping of the adjacent cortical bone is also well-visualized on both axial and coronal sequences.

Case Discussion

The location and the MRI features are most consistent of a glomus tumor,  also known as glomangioma.
