Reduced movement of jaw with a dull aching pain associated with a soft tissue swelling.

Absence of mandible with a well defined area of collection noted in the soft tissue on the left side

Case Discussion

A case of Gorham's disease involving the mandible:

  • massive osteolysis of the mandible with lack of compensatory osteoblastic activity
  • replaced by fibrous tissue
  • usually associated with an angiomatous swelling
  • in this case the swelling was due to inflammatory changes proved by an FNAC
  • this disease most commonly involves  the skull, jaw, shoulder, rib cage, and pelvis
