Greenstick fracture: distal radius

Case contributed by Jeremy Jones
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Fell off the trampoline. Wrist pain.

Incomplete fracture of the distal radius with cortical break of the convex surface - a greenstick fracture.

Case Discussion

Distal radial fractures are one of the commonest fractures in pediatric patients and often result from falls off bikes and trampolines, or collisions during contact sports.

They are usually incomplete fractures with distal radial metaphyseal torus fractures being commoner than diaphyseal greenstick fractures (this case).
