Presentation

Headache.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
mri

Large well defined cystic lesion with small soft tissue nodule is seen implicating the left cerebellar hemisphere measuring about 4 x 5 x 3 cm exhibiting hypointense signal in T1WI and FLAIR and hyperintense signal in T2WI, the soft tissue nodule showing homogeneous post contrast enhancement while the cystic component showing no enhancement , the lesion exerting mass effect upon the 4th ventricle with subsequent minimal dilatation of the supratentorial ventricular system.

Case Discussion

A young adult with MRI findings suggestive of left cerebellar hemangioblastoma. The main differential is that of a pilocytic astrocytoma.
