Presentation

Hypothyroidism signs and symptoms. In another radiology center multiple nodules reported and FNA was recommended.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

Pseudonodular appearance: Multiple hyperechoic nodular appearances consist of fibrosis whilst the coarse hypoechoic areas consist of lymphocytic infiltrates.

Power Doppler and color Doppler modes show that hypoechoic areas are more vascular than hyperechoic areas.

Case Discussion

There are ultrasound features that are highly specific for Hashimoto diseasePseudonodular appearance (giraffe pattern) is one of them and hyperechoic areas represent parenchymal fibrosis.

Awareness of these features may prevent patients from unnecessary FNAC.
