Hashimoto thyroiditis with consequent hypothyroidism

Presentation

Remarkable decrease of motor activities and the laboratory investigation revealed hypothyroidism.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years

Both lobes of the thyroid gland are of decreased size. The thyroid parenchyma looks abnormal and unhealthy, elicit heterogeneous echogenicity with numerous minute hypodensities within that represent tiny hypoechoic nodules. They are separated by fibrous echogenic septa. The gland parenchyma shows increased vascularity on Doppler study. No detectable masses could be seen.

Case Discussion

The laboratory investigation revealed increased thyroid autoantibodies with evidence of hypothyroidism.
