Hepatocellular carcinoma

Presentation

Right upper quadrant pain in a known patient with hepatitis B.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Male
ct

A 150×135×130 mm hypervascular hetero enhancing mass with delayed washout is present in the liver.

The spleen is enlarged, and its cephalocaudal height measured 140 mm. Additionally, a few small low enhancing masses in the spleen less than 12 mm.

Several non-enhanced simple cortical cysts are seen in both kidneys.

A large sliding hiatal hernia is observed.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound guided core needle biopsy is performed for the hepatic lesion, and histopathology evaluation confirms hepatocellular carcinoma, the most common primary malignancy of the liver.
