Non-contrast CT scan of the head showed tiny punctate calcifications within the body of the hippocampus bilaterally. The location of the calcifications is confirmed on multiplanar reformations. There is underlying moderate generalized brain volume loss with mild asymmetric volume loss of the left hippocampus.
Case Discussion
Hippocampal calcification is seen with greater prevalence over the age of 50. Its clinical significance remains uncertain. Radiologically it can mimic choroid plexus calcification.
