Known HCV postive case
Patient Data
The lower poles of both kidneys are seen pointing medially and seen fused across the midline by an isthmus of functioning renal tissue, with antriorly malrotated hila denoting horse shoe kidneys. Normal parenchymal thickness & density of both kidneys with no stones. Mild back-pressure changes are noted.
Advanced cirrhotic liver features with uneven wavy nodular surface, hypertrophied left lobe, prominent caudate lobe and widened interlobar fissure. No definite focal lesions or areas of pathological parenchymal enhancement.
Splenomegaly.
Dilated porto-systemic collaterals are seen at the splenic hilum and along the lesser curvature of the stomach.
Case Discussion
Horseshoe kidneys are a relatively common incidental finding on imaging.
