Presentation

ICU patient presented post cardiopulmonary resuscitation after cardiac arrest.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

 Perirolandic cortex and ventrolateral thalamic bilaterally show diffusion restriction ( increased signal intensity in DWI and corresponding apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps show low signal intensity.
Bilateral high signal intensity in periventricular white matter in T2WI and FLAIR with no diffusion restriction or mass effect. 

Case Discussion

Patient came for a brain MRI after cardiac arrest and CPR as a routine to detect any brain insult, features are highly compatible with Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy
Small vessels disease is also seen.
