Presentation

3 month old boy, post cardiac arrest

Patient Data

Age: 3 months
Gender: Male

Diffuse edema and hypo-attenuation of the cerebral hemispheres with effacement of the cortical sulci and loss of normal grey-white matter differentiation. Sparing of the cerebellum (white cerebellum sign, which indicates irreversible brain damage), brainstem and both thalami are noted to be of apparent high attenuation relative to the cerebral hemispheres.
