Ingested phone charger

Case contributed by Ian Bickle
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Purposeful ingestion of foreign body.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Various ingested foreign bodies.

The largest is a phone charging cable in the stomach with the USB and phone end connections clearly outlined.

Case Discussion

One of the more substantial ingested foreign bodies one might observe.  There are some common 'favorites' like batteries, coins, and paperclips but others might be more unique and also indicate a sign of the times.

30 years ago one would not have swallowed a mobile phone charging cable.
