Right limb weakness and developmental delay

A large porencephalic cavity in the left frontal lobe white matter communicating with the left lateral ventricle.

Encephalic volume loss in left frontotemporal lobes evidenced by hydrocephalus ex vacuo and midline retraction toward the left side. Foci of calcification in the right frontal subependymal region. Subtle white matter loss surrounding frontal horn of right lateral ventricle with tiny subependymal calcifications.

Persistent cavum septum pellucidum and cavum vergae.

Case Discussion

Encephalomalacic cyst lined by white matter communicating with the ventricular system is sometimes referred to as internal porencephaly.
