Presentation
Fall from bed with head injury and right parietal swelling. No features of raised ICP.
Patient Data
No fracture demonstrated.
However, the sella is enlarged and J-shaped suggesting an underlying pituitary mass lesion. Further imaging suggested.
The pituitary is expanded by a cystic mass lesion, but there is no nodular enhancement and no other parasellar lesion.
Case Discussion
This small cystic pituitary lesion has been found incidentally and hormone profile was confirmed as normal. There is also incidental ventriculomegaly and extra-axial space prominence.
The child was normal neurologically and endocrinologically and it was decided to perform interval imaging. The cystic lesion did not alter over several years and was therefore presumed to be a simple pituitary cyst.
