Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

An irregular lucent line is observed traversing through the proximal metaphysis of the 5th metatarsal, approximately 3cm from the tip of the styloid process.

Case Discussion

Typical example of a Jones fracture, not to be confused with an avulsion fracture of the styloid process (pseudo-Jones fracture) which occurs more proximally. A "Dancer's fracture" has sometimes been used to describe both of these injuries, but is typically the latter.
