Presentation
Several weeks of pelvic pain and progressive abdominal enlargement.
Patient Data
Bilateral large ovarian complex predominantly solid lesions. The solid component of the lesions shows moderate enhancement. Multiple cystic components are noted some of them show clear fluid and others show high-density content. Rectosigmoid fungating mass is noted almost obliterating its lumen.
Case Discussion
Krukenberg tumor is a subtype of metastasis to the ovary, usually from colon and gastric cancer (followed by breast and lung) that contains mucin-secreting signet cells. The lesion is indistinguishable from primary ovarian neoplasm and hence the presence of gastric or colonic masses or mural thickening favor the diagnosis of Krukenberg tumor.
