Presentation

Painless swelling in the right thigh.

Patient Data

Large, well-circumscribed, ovoid, low density mass along the lateral aspect of right thigh without evidence of underlying bony erosion nor infiltrative margins.

Case Discussion

Lipomas are benign adipocytic tumors which are common in adult, but rare in children. Large lipomas are relatively lucent compared to soft tissues. This feature along with well-defined, smooth margins, ovoid shape and intact underlying bone favors the benign characteristics of the adipocytic tumor.
