Presentation

Lateral elbow pain after training with "battle ropes" in a crossfit class.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Moderate tendon thickening and hypoechoic signal with increased doppler flow within the common extensor tendons.

Asymptomatic side

ultrasound

Significant hypoechoic regions in the common extensor tendons with hyperemia as compared to the asymptomatic side. 

Case Discussion

Ultrasound is an excellent modality for evaluating lateral epicondylosis. Normally the tendon should be hyperechoic and without Doppler signal.
