Left upper lobe collapse

There is hazy opacification of the left hemithorax with obscuration of the superior mediastinum and left cardiac border (Silhouette sign). There is well definition of the lateral aspect of the aortic arch by air (Luftsichel sign).
Findings are consistent with left upper lobe collapse.
Case Discussion
The patient was a known smoker. She then went on to have a contrast enhanced CT Thorax which confirmed a primary bronchogenic carcinoma with occlusion of the left upper lobe bronchus.
