Age: 3 years
Gender: Male

The left hip joint shows significant loss of epiphyseal height mainly lateral ( more than 50%) with associated loss of of the normal bright signal in both T1 WI and T2WI. There is widening of the femoral neck with undulation of the physeal band denoting possible growth arrest as well as horizontal position of the labrum indicating moderate lateral subluxation. There is a metaphyseal cyst and joint effusion as well.

Case Discussion

Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease refers to idiopathic avascular necrosis of the femoral epiphysis which affect mainly the boys in 3-6 years of age.
