The sacrum and iliac wings resemble the head and body of the manta ray, with the largely diastatic pubic rami forming its cephalic flaps.
Exstrophy of the bladder can be associated with external rotation of the pelvis on each side, retroversion of the acetabula, external rotation and shortening of the pubic rami, with progressive diastasis of the symphysis pubis.
