Presentation
Ovarian cyst detected on ultrasound
Patient Data
Left ovary is replaced by a well defined predominantly cystic lesion with thin smooth walls, multiple septa, calcific and fat components within with no enhancing solid components. Areas of blooming seen in gradient images.
Right ovary shows a crenated corpus luteal cyst. Right posterolateral wall subserosal uterine fibroid present.
Case Discussion
Benign ovarian dermoid is the most common neoplasm encountered in 20s and 30s. It makes itself conspicuous by the presence of fat within and with or without the presence of calcification within. Ultrasound, CT and MRI are sensitive to imaging whilst the latter provides the best soft tissue picture.
