Presentation
Pelvic pain and palpable ill-defined lump in the pelvis on the left side.
Patient Data
There is a large well defined encapsulated lesion with predominantly fat content, internal septation, mural nodule and calcification (tooth) arising in the region of left adnexa. The left ovary is not seen separately from the lesion. Right ovary and uterus are normal.
Imaging features are suggestive of mature cystic teratoma or dermoid cyst of left ovary.
Case Discussion
Dermoid cyst or mature cystic teratoma is the most common ovarian neoplasm in young females. It commonly affects adult females of reproductive age group. Dermoids arise from all three germinal latyers and contain various tissues within.
