Meningioma

Presentation

Chronic headache, recently worsening. Presenting to the ER with vomiting.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

Note is made of an extra-axial hyperdense lobulated mass at the left parieto-temporal region, with surrounding brain parenchymal edema. Few cystic changes are seen. No calcifications seen. No overlying bone changes.

The mass shows homogeneous enhancement post-contrast administration.

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION:
- Tumor consists of meningothelial cells arranged in a whorly pattern with bland looking nuclei. Few psammoma bodies seen with large areas of necrosis. Tumor cells are focally positive for PR and EMA while GFAP is negative and Ki67 is less than 4%. 

DIAGNOSIS
- Meningioma, WHO grade I.
