There is a well-defined broad-based extra-dural mass of the foramen magnum lateralized to the right measuring 25 X 18 X 15 mm. It displays a low signal to the spinal cord on T1, T2 and FLAIR with vivid homogeneous enhancement on post-contrast sequences. The bulbomedullary junction is compressed and displaced to the left.

Age-related brain atrophy with small vessel ischemic changes are noted.

ct

A Nonenhanced CT was performed a few days later showing a partially calcified mass at the foramen magnum, compressing and displacing the bulbomedullary junction to the left.

Case Discussion

MRI and CT features of well-defined broad-based extra-axial mass at the foramen magnum, compressing the bulbomedullary junction most consistent with meningioma.
