Mesenteric panniculitis

Presentation

Abdominal and left loin pain.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
ct

Inhomogenously hyperdense mesenteric fat lesion with misty mesentery is seen surrounding the superior mesenteric vessels and their branches within the root of the small bowel mesentery. Multiple small mesenteric and para-aortic lymph nodes.

There is also enlarged homogeneous prostate gland. Incidental small 2 mm left middle pole calyceal stone.

Case Discussion

Mesenteric panniculitis, left renal stone and prostatomegaly.

Sclerosing mesentritis include 3 stages (although some authors believe these to be separate entities)

  • mesenteric panniculitis
  • mesenteric lipodystrophy
  • retractile mesenteritis
