Metastatic breast carcinoma (peritoneal disease)

Case contributed by Dr Jeremy Jones

Staging scan following chemotherapy for metastatic breast carcinoma.

Case Discussion

Right mastectomy.

Improvement in the liver and adrenal metastases (from previous study, not available here).

Increase in the soft tissue mass in the fundus of the stomach that compresses the GEJ.

Increase in the size and volume of peritoneal disease.

Was the original diagnosis of metastatic breast carcinoma correct?  Or, is there a second gastric primary - biospies awaited.
