Previous cardiac surgery. Shortness of breath. Chest pain.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years old
Gender: Female

Median sternotomy.

MVR and AVR.

Heart size normal.

Lungs clear.

Case Discussion

Dual left sided valve replacements.

The film is useful as it helps illustrate the differences in the MVR an AVR is terms of:

1. Position of the valve   ( AVR tends to be more medially over the spine )

2. Orientation of the valve   ( MVR is more en-face so diameter of valve better seen )

3. Size of the valve diameter   ( MVR is larger than the AVR )
