The majority of the patient's right ilium is absent. The right ischium and right pubic ramus have been completely resected.
Case Discussion
A hemipelvectomy can be altered to fit the clinical need.
The standard hemipelvectomy involves complete resection of the ilium, ischium, and pubic bones on one side, as well as removal of the ipsilateral lower extremity.
A modified hemipelvectomy (as above) may leave a small amount of ilium.
An extended hemipelvectomy extends into the ipsilateral sacrum.
