Presentation
Seizures
Patient Data
Evidence of multiple variable-sized cystic areas within the white matter and inner layers of the cerebral cortex predominantly in both frontal and right parietal lobes.
The basal ganglia and posterior fossa are spared.
Parenchymal atrophic changes are present at the supra-tentorial level.
Case Discussion
The imaging findings described above are consistent with extensive bilateral cystic encephalomalacia and brain parenchymal atrophy. This patient most likely had suffered from hypoxic/ischemic insult and the brain pattern resembles sequelae of hypoxic/ischemic encephalopathy.
