Presentation
This patient suffered a MBA overseas and was treated with a decompressive craniectomy. Upon return months later he became progressively unwell.
Patient Data
Multiple peripherally enhancing lesions consistent with cerebral abscesses are seen extending to the ventricle with evidence of ventriculitis and menintitis. Obstructive hydrocephalus is also present.
Case Discussion
In patients who are already neurologically impaired, especially when there is discontinuity of care, gradual deterioration can be difficult to identify and this can lead to delayed diagnosis of complications. In this case severe intracranial pyogenic infection was present.
