Presentation

Clinically believed to have multiple myeloma. Any jaw lesions?

Patient Data

Age: 70 years old
Gender: Male
x-ray

Lucent lesion in the right subconylar region of the mandible with cortical destruction.

No other focal bone lesions.

Case Discussion

There are a number non-odontogenic lesions in the mandible, one of which is myeloma.  Other include:

  • fibrous dysplasia
  • metastases
  • aneurysmal bone cyst
  • simple bone cyst
  • Stafne's bone cyst
  • Brown's tumor of hyperparathyroidism
