History of trauma about one year ago and decreased right hip range of motion.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

There is ossification of posterior muscles of the right hip which cause subluxation of the femoro-acetabular joint at the same side. Features compatible with myositis ossificans in a patient with history of trauma about one year ago.

Case Discussion

Heterotopic ossification usually within large muscles is characteristic for myositis ossificans. Most cases occur as a result of trauma.
