Myxoid liposarcoma - extensive

Presentation

Soft tissue mass involving the subcutaneous tissue from the pelvis to the left foot.

Age: 45 years

An extensive soft tissue mass occupies all subcutaneous tissue from the lower back to the left pelvis and proximal left thigh, with pelvic extraperitoneal and deep thigh fat planes extension. The mass is hypoattenuating and shows wispy enhancement in some areas.  

Targeted MRI

Extensive infiltrative mass involving subcutaneous tissue from lower back and left lateral abdominal wall to the proximal left thigh and along the left sciatic nerve. There is also involvement of the extraperitoneal pelvis, with local muscle and left iliac bone involvement. The mass has low T1 signal and focal areas of fat tissue and contrast enhancement delineating with collections (necrotic tissue).

The mass has also extensively infiltrates the subcutaneous tissues through the deep fat planes along all lower left limb. 

Case Discussion

The patient has a confirmed diagnosis of myxoid liposarcoma and had undergone two previous resection surgeries. She has been in clinical treatment with doxorubicin liposome for 8 months at the time of this scan.
