Necrotizing pancreatitis

Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
CT

The pancreas is swollen and there are non-enhancing areas in neck and body of pancreas; accompanied by peripancreatic and perigastric fluid accumulation and mesenteric fat stranding. Abdominopelvic free fluid is also observed. Intrahepatic bile ducts are dilated and CBD measures about 10 mm in caliber. There is not CT-detectable stone at distal of CBD. 
In imaged portion of lower thorax, bilateral pleural effusion with adjacent pulmonary parenchymal collapse are seen.

Case Discussion

Necrotizing pancreatitis with peripancreatic fluid accumulation, abdominopelvic free fluid and pleural effusion.
